  • (4.0)

Before we dig deep, let us understand one simple concept.

An organization have many excel reports, databases stored in variety of software applications. If the top management wants an information framing from the consolidated data stored in excel or other applications, one has to import them from each application and then prepare a consolidated worksheet and then turns that data into the format which is comfortable to the management.

I will give you one practical example.  Let's take a small startup consists of 250 employees. CEO wants to know those employees who are working for last hours and accomplishing the tasks on every Monday.

There is a Scrum Master who would present final worksheet to CEO on every Monday. The Scrum master assigns PMO Team to collect and prepare the data. PMO will further prepare a daily tracker and send it to every employee to fill and submit by EOD. The data is then consolidate and produces into final information giving employees working more than 8 hours and completing above 85% of task.

To accomplish this data, the company uses excel sheet as the no of employees is 250.  What if the company has 2500 employees.  What if it is an multi- national company with 25 lac employees?. It is difficult, Right!  First-of-all, even for a company with 250 employees if the data and formulas are not set properly the final worksheet will be full of mistakes. Upon that showing the information in excel makes the person lose interest.

What if this information, prepared in excel, shown in graphics like charts, pie, bar diagrams?.  So, transforming your dashboards and reports into graphical dashboards will not only make the information attractive but improve the person’s interest and concentration.

Now, 2nd   concept,  we have prepare graphical data in excel. There are generally  3 types of data we find:

  1. Data that we know

  2. Data that we need to know

  3. Data that we do not know that we need to know

All the above problems can be solved by Excel, Google 3600  suit. But Tableau is now on lead.
