How will we install VMware tools when we see "greyed out" option
Posted on 1st October 2023
1. Stop the VM.
2. Open the Workstation Player and also right-click at the VM. (Do not begin the VM).
3. Choose the "Parameters" option to change the hardware parameters.
4. Select the CD/drive in the left sidebar on the Hardware tab and click the Erase button.
5. Repeat the previous action to eliminate that floppy drive.
6. Click that "Add" button, choose the "CD/DVD" drive and choose "Finish". The option "Use physical hard disk> Automatic detection" should now be activated in the area on the right. (Windows ISO was previously selected).
7. Click "OK" to close the window and start the VM usually.
8. After starting, click at menu in the upper left corner of the desktop and continue to "Player >Manage >Install VMWare Tools".

While installing VMware tools, we can see grey out options. Grey out option indicates that the image of the tools is already mounted on the guest VM. So, we should open VM settings to see whether the image of the tools is mounted or not.
STILL GOT QUERIES?
