What Authentication Modes Does SQL Server Support?

SQL Server will support two authentication modes whereas Windows Authentication Mode and Mixed Authentication Mode.

• Windows authentication mode is the default, and is even referred to integrated security where this SQL Server security model is tightly integrated with Windows. Specific Windows user and group accounts can be trusted to log in to SQL Server. Windows users who have already been authenticated then they don’t have to provide additional credentials.
• Mixed mode will support authentication of both Windows and SQL Server. Username and password pairs are maintained within SQL Server.
