What Is Metrics In CloudWatch?

Metrics in a cloud watch is a basic unit which is used to represent time orderly data points. So basically a metric is a variable that is used to monitor data-points as values and represent these values in specific time intervals. Some of the examples of metrics are how data transfer is done in an EC2, disk usage and CPU utilization. If these metrics are not being used for a period of 15 months they expire.
