Five progressive stages from cloud fundamentals to enterprise OCI architect, with typical India (LPA) and USA (USD) salary ranges for 2026. Oracle's current OCI ladder is Foundations Associate (1Z0-1085-26), Architect Associate (1Z0-1072-26), Architect Professional (1Z0-997-26), and role-based Professional exams in DevOps, Security, Networking and Developer. Foundations is currently free; the rest are USD 245 per attempt. There is no separate enterprise-architect exam — Stage 5 is an experience-based milestone.
Start with cloud service and deployment models, then OCI's own building blocks: regions and availability domains, compartments and IAM identity domains, Compute, Block/Object/File Storage, VCN basics, the shared security model, and pricing and cost management. Validated by the OCI Foundations Associate (1Z0-1085-26) — a conceptual exam, currently free, with no prerequisites and no hands-on experience required.
Your first hands-on OCI credential and the core of the MindMajix track. Build and operate real workloads across six exam domains: IAM and identity domains, VCN networking and connectivity, Compute shapes and scaling, Object/Block/File Storage, Oracle Base and Autonomous Database, and observability. Networking and Storage alone carry roughly 44% of the exam. No formal prerequisites; Oracle recommends hands-on OCI experience.
Step up to senior design. Architect multi-region HA and DR against defined RTO/RPO targets, cloud-native and event-driven patterns on OKE, Functions and API Gateway, security architecture, databases at scale, hybrid and multicloud connectivity, workload migration, and enterprise observability. 50 questions, 90 minutes, 68% to pass. The Architect Associate is the assumed foundation.
Pick a lane and go deep with a role-based Professional exam: DevOps (1Z0-1109-26) for OKE, Terraform, Resource Manager and CI/CD pipelines; Security (1Z0-1104-26), which includes hands-on performance tasks; Networking (1Z0-1124-26) for DRG, transitive routing, FastConnect and VPN; or Developer (1Z0-1084-26) for microservices, serverless and event-driven builds. Each is USD 245.
Own cloud strategy end to end: landing-zone and multi-tenancy design, Oracle Database@Azure and OCI–AWS/Google interconnect topologies, large-scale Oracle and Exadata migrations, FinOps and cost governance, compliance, and delivery leadership. No dedicated enterprise-architect exam — an experience-based milestone, typically 8+ years, reinforced by OCI Multicloud Architect Associate and OCI Migration Architect Professional.
