ServiceNow has no single ‘CIS-ITOM’ exam — ITOM is validated by CIS – Discovery, CIS – Service Mapping and CIS – Event Management, with CIS – Data Foundations (CMDB & CSDM) now the enforced registration prerequisite for Discovery and Service Mapping. Stages 4 and 5 are experience-based milestones, not exams.
Learn what ITOM solves and how the CMDB and Common Service Data Model (CSDM) underpin every ITOM capability. Cover Now Platform navigation, MID Server concepts, and where ITOM Advanced (Discovery, Service Mapping) and ITOM Prime (Event Management, AIOps) fit. Practise free on a Personal Developer Instance — no prior ServiceNow experience needed.
ServiceNow’s foundational credential and the standard platform grounding before any ITOM specialisation. Validates tables and forms, ACLs and data security, UI policies and actions, Flow Designer, import sets and transform maps, users and groups, and CMDB fundamentals. Roughly 60 questions in 90 minutes, proctored by Pearson VUE.
The core ITOM track, and the one MindMajix prepares you for. Clear CIS – Data Foundations (CMDB & CSDM, ~75 questions) first — it is the enforced prerequisite for CIS – Discovery and CIS – Service Mapping, though not for CIS – Event Management. Then build MID Servers, run horizontal Discovery with probes, sensors and patterns over SNMP, WMI and SSH, map business services, and configure event rules, alert correlation and cloud discovery.
Lead enterprise ITOM delivery: large Discovery and Service Mapping estates, alert correlation with Splunk, SolarWinds, SCOM or Datadog, CMDB health and CSDM governance, multi-cloud discovery and MID Server clustering. Increasingly AIOps-centred — Health Log Analytics, Metric Intelligence and Service Observability all sit in the ITOM Prime tier. Experience-based; no single official exam.
Own enterprise ITOM strategy: CMDB and CSDM data-model architecture and governance, Subscription-Unit sizing under the April 2026 ITOM Advanced / Prime licensing model, and AIOps and observability adoption across hybrid and multi-cloud estates. Typically 8+ years. No ITOM architect exam exists — some pursue ServiceNow’s Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Certified Master Architect (CMA) programmes.
Outcome: an honest ITOM path from beginner to enterprise architect, covering every current ITOM credential plus the senior-engineer and architect roles that follow. Exams are registered through ServiceNow University and proctored by Pearson VUE: CSA, each CIS mainline exam Certification Maintenance Program fee introduced in 2026. Anyone already holding CIS – Discovery or CIS – Service Mapping must pass CIS – Data Foundations by 31 December 2026 to keep it renewable, and registration enforcement begins 1 January 2027. ServiceNow’s April 2026 repackaging replaced Standard/Professional/Enterprise with two tiers — ITOM Advanced (Discovery, Service Mapping, CMDB 360) and ITOM Prime (Event Management, Health Log Analytics, Service Observability).
