Dynatrace issues three official credentials through Dynatrace University: Associate (70 questions, 1 hr 45 min, 72% to pass), Professional (two-part — a 100-question written exam plus a hands-on practical), and Master. Master is not an exam — it is an application requiring a valid Professional certification. All Dynatrace badges are valid for 2 years.

Build your first dashboards and Notebooks on a free 15-day trial tenant or the public Playground. No prior Dynatrace or coding experience needed.
Dynatrace's foundation credential and the entry point to the entire certification program. It covers full-stack and infrastructure monitoring, problems and Davis root-cause analysis, Real User and Synthetic Monitoring, log investigation, and basic DQL. 70 questions in 1 hour 45 minutes, 72% to pass, fully computer-graded and online proctored. Dynatrace recommends roughly six months of hands-on experience.
The core engineering credential, and a track MindMajix prepares you for. Two parts: a 100-question written exam (2 hours, 70% to pass) followed by a hands-on practical that must be cleared within three months. It spans deployment and configuration at scale, advanced DQL and Grail analytics, log management, SLOs, APIs and Settings 2.0 automation, and extensions. A valid Associate certification is a prerequisite.
Production reliability ownership. Run observability across Kubernetes and multi-cloud estates, define SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, instrument services with OpenTelemetry, manage configuration as code with Monaco and Terraform, and wire Dynatrace into CI/CD pipelines and incident response. An experience-based milestone — there is no separate Dynatrace exam at this level.
Own enterprise observability strategy: tenant and tagging governance, data-ingest and licence cost design, AIOps standards, and hybrid and multi-cloud architecture. Dynatrace Master is the top credential but is not an exam — you apply, and must hold a valid Professional certification with 5+ years in application performance and 3+ years running Dynatrace in a live environment.
Outcome: an honest path from observability beginner to enterprise Observability Architect — covering all three Dynatrace credentials plus the SRE and architect roles that follow, across India and the USA. Exams are booked and proctored online through Dynatrace University; a valid Associate is a prerequisite for Professional, and letting Professional lapse means restarting from Associate. Badges are issued via Credly and expire after 2 years. Dynatrace was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms for the 16th consecutive time.
