This roadmap maps the SailPoint identity-security career across five progressive stages — from IAM and identity-governance foundations to enterprise Identity Security Architect — with typical India (LPA) and USA (USD) salary ranges for 2026. SailPoint currently offers four role-based professional certifications: Certified Identity Security Administrator and Certified Identity Security Engineer for the cloud-based Identity Security Cloud (ISC) platform, plus Certified IdentityIQ Associate and Certified IdentityIQ Engineer for on-premise IdentityIQ. The senior-engineer and architect stages are experience-based career milestones, not separate exams.
Build the groundwork for an identity-governance career. Learn core IAM and IGA concepts — authentication, authorization, the joiner-mover-leaver lifecycle, RBAC and segregation-of-duties (SoD) — alongside Active Directory / LDAP, a working grasp of Java / BeanShell, and where SailPoint's two platforms fit: on-premise IdentityIQ and the cloud-based Identity Security Cloud (ISC). The free Identity Security Leader credential is a useful first milestone. No prior SailPoint experience needed.
Step into hands-on administration. This entry certification validates day-to-day platform skills: onboarding sources and applications, configuring identity profiles and account correlation, running access certifications, and building basic workflows. Two routes exist — the cloud-focused SailPoint Certified Identity Security Administrator (ISC) or the on-premise SailPoint Certified IdentityIQ Associate. SailPoint recommends roughly 6 months to 1 year of hands-on experience.
The core engineering certification — and the track the MindMajix programme prepares you for. Design and build production identity solutions: rules and transforms, provisioning workflows, event triggers, REST APIs and connectivity, virtual appliances, and application onboarding, with custom development in Java / BeanShell for IdentityIQ. Choose the SailPoint Certified Identity Security Engineer (ISC) or the SailPoint Certified IdentityIQ Engineer; both recommend about 1 year of hands-on experience.
Move beyond certification into senior delivery. Lead end-to-end IGA implementations, integrate SailPoint with Workday, Active Directory, ServiceNow and cloud applications, design SoD and access-review policies, and tune provisioning performance at enterprise scale. The Identity Security Professional and Identity Security Expert knowledge credentials reinforce this stage. Experience-based milestone — no single official exam.
Own enterprise identity strategy. Architect large-scale IGA programmes across hybrid and multi-cloud estates, set governance, RBAC and Zero-Trust standards, and lead solution design and roadmaps for IdentityIQ and Identity Security Cloud. A senior role typically requiring 8+ years across IAM and integration. Experience-based milestone — no official exam.
