How to Create a Value Prompt in Cognos Report Studio

Cognos Value Prompt

  • Create a list report with the following query items

  • Order year

  • Order method

  • Quantity

  • Group on order year

  • Total on quantity

  • From page explorer

  • Click on prompt pages

  • From insertable objects

  • Drag the page

  • Drop on prompt pages window

  • Double click on the prompt page

  • From toolbox

  • Drag the value prompt

  • Click on next

  • From package item

  • Click on eclipses

  • From package

  • Select order year

  • Click on OK

  • Click on Next

  • Click on Finish

  • Save & Run the report

Procedure to place radio button in value prompt:

  • It is possible to place a radio button for single value selection

  • Select the value prompt

  • From the properties pane, select the property – Select UI

  • From drop-down list

  • Select Radio button group

Procedure to place check box in value prompt to select multiple Values:

  • From properties, select the property – Multi-select

  • From drop-down list – Select – Yes

  • From the page explorer

  • Click on Page1

  • Click on filters

  • Double click on the filter condition

  • Change the = operator as in the operator

  • Click on OK

  • Click on OK

  • From the  page explorer

  • Click on prompt page

  • From properties pane

  • Select the property – Select UI

  • From drop-down list

  • Select Check box group
